Having a book published is very difficult and take several tries before you get a bite. Things to consider when negotiating with a book publisher include publishing release date, rate of pay, contracts and negotiations, business and book signing appearances, and publish services. Ask whether the publish company is part of a local, national or international entity, and if it has a website you can check out for additional information. When deciding how to find a quality book publish company, decide what kind of experience you want, whether a small publishing firm or large one. Inquire about specific services, such as editing, representation, and management, whether you’re a science fiction novel writer, or biography author. Be sure to get any contracts in writing before signing and make sure all rates are spelled out in black and white. Usually, the author cuts a deal with the publisher and is paid on a set schedule. Writing a book can take lots of time and patience before it is finally written and published for release, so be patient and don’t get discouraged.
